In 2016, we started infusing the term Growth Mindset in our talent development programs and the result has been astonishing. Participants were engaging, proactive, and most importantly self-motivated and have more grit in learning. To give a few examples:

In the JUMP program in Chongqing, a class of 30 operations team completed > 6000 after training exercises unsupervised. On average 200 homework/person in the course of 3 months.
In our 5-month program, BIG, 100 full time engineers on average spend 1.5 hours every day working on their innovation projects, perfecting their communication skills until the last day of the program. We are talking about 1.5 hours of after-office-hour!
What would normally be considered impossible level of activity in the training industry, were made possible in BIG. What’s more is that we have repeatedly proven the approach in five other programs in 2016.

So what is Growth Mindset anyway?

There are many studies online that talk about Growth Mindset versus Fixed Mindset. I encourage you to dig deeper into the power of it. But to me, Growth Mindset is a belief — A belief that you don’t think talent is born with but built on; A belief that the more challenges that you face, the better and stronger that you will become; A belief that I never fail, I only learn; A belief that learning is a lifelong life journey that one should never stop embarking on.

Somehow those beliefs were transferred to the people through the programs we designed. I could only start to imagine how brilliant and enriching their lives will become and how many roads would open up for them with this kind of belief growing in their minds and hearts.

I believe. Do you?

In the coming 2017, Growth Mindset will be one of the key elements that we continue to invest in, and creatively embed in all our programs. Only with the right mindset that the desired behavior will follow. And with enough people behaving the same way, that the desired culture will be formed inaudibly.

Allow me to wish you a brand new year of growth with the growth mindset. Looking forward to growing with you in 2017.

Best wishes.
